Trail Host
The Trail Host provides guests with information and recommendations to enhance their mountain hiking and sightseeing experience in the Sunshine Meadows hiking area.
You will provide assistance to groups visiting the Meadows to ensure their visit is safe and enjoyable with minimum impact on the environment. You will be trained in wildlife conflict protocols and appreciation for the special environment of the Sunshine Meadows.
Essential Functions
Travel by foot to and rotate through various posts on the trails to inform guests about the trails, environment and routes
Provide friendly reminders to visitors to stay on the trails and respect the environment
Host and attend to guests in our Interpretive Centre and the Sunshine Mountain Lodge
Monitor and report on environmental and trail conditions
Report, respond to and assist with wildlife conflicts
Report and assist in any emergency responses until Public Safety personnel arrive
Experience/Requirements
Passionate about providing an excellent guest experience
Outgoing and comfortable organizing and speaking to groups
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide information in a friendly manner
Physically fit, able to walk long distances in rugged terrain on a daily basis
Comfortable working in harsh mountain conditions with sudden, extreme changes in weather
Comfortable working alone in remote areas
Able to exercise judgement and make sound decisions
Possess integrity and have strong attention to detail
Able to work flexible shifts including weekends
Comfortable using VHF radios for communication
